Rhythms
We have used the following labels for our teaching dances. Dances with the labels 4-1, 4-2, etc. can be used to teach the phase IV figures in round dancing. See the list of new figures to see what new figures are added in each dance. They will contain at least one phase IV figure but will not contain any higher level figure. However, the first couple of dances in most cases are phase III+1 or III+2 dances. For example, the foxtrot 4-1 & 4-2 dances are III+2 dances. At the same time the foxtrot 5-1 & 5-2 dances are IV+1 dances.
We have finished writing teaching dances for the rhythms bolero, foxtrot, waltz, tango, cha cha, rumba, mambo, merengue, jive, paso doble & samba. For these rhythms you can use these dances to teach all of the figures in one phase before starting another phase. In the future we will still be adding dances to the quickstep & two step. At present, while these dances can be used to teach most of the round dance figures in these rhythms, it is necessary to learn some of the figures in the next higher phase before finishing teaching all of the figures in one phase.
The format and abbreviations used in writing these dances can be found on the Roundalab web site. www.roundalab.org
